Like John Steinbeck and as a French national when I arrived in Texas in 2012, I was first hit by the gigantism: “Everything is bigger in Texas” they say and they are right. You can drive hours on long straight highways, only crossing huge bridges, passing under five level interchanges, and overpassing trucks, trailers, pickups and some more trucks …. In large cities traffic becomes a nightmare even with the 20 lanes large roads. You would stop in a restaurant and buy a Texas-sized meal that could probably feed the whole family. The rain can fall all night long and flood an entire city. The next day life goes back to normal under the bright sun. Texans are resilient. Self-published book 2016 available on Amazon and blurb.
